The international conference "Problems of Geocosmos" has been held regularly, every two years, at the Department of Physics of the Earth at St. Petersburg State University since 1996. Traditionally, it focuses on current issues in Earth physics and solar-terrestrial relationships. Since 2016, to attract more young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students in geophysics, the conference has included a school where leading experts present lectures on fundamental problems in Earth sciences.

The main goal of the conference is to present the results of geophysical research conducted by scientists from St. Petersburg University and Russia, and to foster scientific exchange with scientists from other countries. Furthermore, the school-conference format will allow young scientists, and graduate and undergraduate students to become familiar with the latest advances in Earth science.
